About Us
As a Child Safe Organisation, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all children are respected, valued, and protected.
Our centre is community-based and managed by a Parent Management Committee. All families are welcome to attend committee meetings, which are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm at the centre.
As a small centre within the community, we cater for a maximum of 42 children each day, ensuring every child receives the individual care, support, and attention they deserve.
The centre closes for four weeks over the Christmas period and on public holidays, with no fees charged during these times.
Nutritious meals are prepared fresh daily by our Cook/Food Safety Supervisor. Our menu meets the requirements of Good for Kids, Good for Life, an initiative of Hunter New England Health, and includes morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. The menu is available for families to view at the centre.
Our Story
Bolton Point Child Care Centre has been operating in the local community since 1987.
We pride ourselves on having small groups of children within each room which gives educators the opportunity to develop positive relationships with the children. This promotes opportunities for the children to develop more confidence and settle in quickly into their new environment. Throughout the day the children engage in mixed aged play which also provides them with time to spend with other siblings and friends in the centre.
Being community based you can be assured that all funds raised stay within the centre. We aim to keep the fees at an affordable rate while also keeping our centre well maintained and resourced for families who attend the centre.
Philosophy & Mission
Bolton Point Child Care Centre aims to create a welcoming environment for all children and families. Our practice is informed by early childhood learning theories, including the work of Lev Vygotsky, which highlights the importance of social interactions between educators and peers in the learning process.
Scaffolding is used to build on children’s existing knowledge and skills, supporting their learning, confidence, and independence. We also value the importance of culturally responsive practice and provide opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to see themselves, their identities, and their cultures reflected in the learning environment, supporting the development of a strong sense of identity.
A diverse and inclusive curriculum ensures all children are supported to engage in meaningful learning experiences that promote independence and belonging.

Bolton Point Child Care Centre recognises that families are children’s first and most influential teachers. Educators at the centre share skills and ideas and work together as a team to ensure high-quality care and education for children. Open communication is encouraged to further support a strong sense of belonging.
Learning through play
Children are capable and resourceful individuals and have a strong sense of identity. We encourage learning through active participation. Our program provides opportunity for supporting all children to learn and discover through creating, problem solving, asking questions and extending on learning whilst still being fun and interest based, that reflect Piaget’s theory that through play children’s thinking becomes logical and organised, but still very concrete.
Children's voice
We understand that the children’s voice is a valuable learning tool for children and educators and we use this in our curriculum and documentation within the centre. Educator’s use these as teachable moments as we develop the children’s knowledge and understanding.
Leanring Environments and Sustainability
The centre provides a supportive learning environment with flexible spaces that respond to the interests and abilities of children. We promote a sustainable future by fostering environmental awareness through hands-on experiences such as loose parts play and recycling.
Sustainability is embedded in daily practices, as well as spontaneous and intentional learning experiences, helping children develop an understanding of their responsibility to care for the environment.
Inclusion and Equality
We value all children as capable learners and contributors at Bolton Point Child Care Centre. Each child’s strengths and interests are recognised, and opportunities are provided for all children to participate in experiences throughout the centre.
Educators build strong partnerships with families, other professionals, and the wider community to enhance their knowledge and understanding of diversity, and to reflect this in their everyday practice.
Critical Reflection
Educators and staff at Bolton Point Child Care Centre are supported and encouraged to use critical reflection as a tool to strengthen their professional knowledge and skills, and to support ongoing learning and development.
What We Offer
Curriculum
Bolton Point Child Care Centre provides a play-based educational program guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) V2.0 – Belonging, Being and Becoming.
Children are provided with daily indoor and outdoor learning opportunities that support the development of fundamental skills and encourage active participation in sustainable practices. These experiences include watering plants using water from the rainwater tank, feeding food scraps to the worm farm, and exploring the natural environment.
Our play-based approach to learning values children’s interests, ideas, and strengths, and uses these as a foundation for meaningful learning experiences.
Rooms
Cherubs Room (0-2 years)
The Cherubs Room cares and educates 8 children 0-2 years of age .
Educators work closely with families to practice routines that have been established at home. There is a strong emphasis on developing relationships with children and making them feel safe and secure and becoming confident to explore their environment.
We provide continuity of care with educators in the room who focus on play based learning in a nurturing environment. Children are able to explore their environment and engage in a variety of play based experiences that incorporate sensory and exploratory activities.
Treasures Room (2-3 years)
The Treasures Room cares and educates 10 children 2-3 years of age.
During this age we understand that children begin to have a variety of new experiences that will foster their interest in learning. We endeavour to promote children’s independence within the room and work with families to develop their self help skills which include toilet training and becoming familiar with their own belongings.
Children’s interests are incorporated within the program with an emphasis on play based learning. This provides opportunities for the children to develop social skills and interactions with their peers along with problem solving, sharing and negotiating.
Preschool Room (3-5 years)
The Preschool Room cares and educates 24 children 3-5 years of age.
The Preschool Room program incorporates a routine that allows time for children to be involved in a variety of play based learning opportunities throughout the day. The room encourages an inclusive environment that provides children with life skills which include working together, problem solving and getting along skills.
As these are the years prior to starting school we promote a number of school readiness experiences that enhance their learning in numeracy and literacy including the use of Jolly Phonics. Children are also encouraged to be responsible for their own belongings and independence in preparation to starting school.
Children’s voice is a valued part of the program as we incorporate their interests and ideas in experiences offered in the room. Children and family inputs are encouraged through sharing an experience or bringing in something to show the children in the show and tell bag.
Events
Bolton Point Child Care Centre is committed to building strong partnerships with families and encourages family involvement throughout the year. We value the important role families play in children’s learning and development and welcome their participation in centre life.
Each year, we host a variety of family events, including Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations, Grandparents Week, and other special occasions that bring our centre community together.
